On Answering The Call To Tell Your Story

Twelve years ago, I got a call to tell my story about growing up in a wild religion/cult. When I first started, I had every reason not to. This part of my life was behind me, it wasn’t part of who I was anymore. There was no point in bringing it all up again.

Exploring my story put me on a healing path and part of that healing was letting my version of the story and all the emotions wrapped up in it be witnessed. When our stories are witnessed, they start to lose their grip, and over time, new ways of looking at that story emerge.

“Memory is not just what happened but the meaning we keep giving it.”

- Cara Jones

As I started excavating my story, what I found most valuable was uncovering what I cared most about because of my own struggle. For you, this might be self-love, presence, or freedom. For me, it was truth. And I realized I could tell this story in service of exploring my truth, which gave a whole other meaning to telling the story.

“Each of us holds a unique kind of wisdom because of how we’ve struggled”

- Cara Jones

Listen in, as I share how I answered the call to tell my story and the lessons I learned through it.

In this episode on answering the call to tell your story, I dive into:

  • The lessons I’ve learned from answering the call to tell my story;

  • How each of us holds a unique kind of wisdom because of how we’ve struggled;

  • Finding the energy to create the life you want;

  • Every time we lose our way, it’s because we’re disconnected from our own medicine;

  • And more.
